Robosoftians: I dare you all, yet again

January 26, 2008

Rohith BhatEveryone in life lives by a dream. A dream which cherishes his thoughts, which he feels, would make his life worthwhile.

We all dream. Don’t we? At times, or many a times, it is simply improbable for others to believe, or even understand, your dream. ‘What nonsense!’, ‘You have lost your mind!’, ‘That’s simply not possible!’ are some of the sentences, ending with exclamation, a person has to bear with it when he expresses his dream or, better said vision, larger than his persona. Those sentences of exclamation are like hammer, you will be shattered, given you are fragile, or forged with conviction if you are strong. ‘Hammer shatters glass forges steel’, a famous Russian proverb, is very apt in this regard.

In the year 1998, when I was working with a premier multi-million dollar conglomerate in the region a humble and timid looking chap had setup a base in a Software and Technology Entrepreneurs Park (STEP) in KREC. I had good reasons to keep a track of him, then. After having worked in Corporations in India and abroad he had, I found out, returned rather prematurely, without any great dollars in his wallet, to India only to start a software development enterprise. The solution he offered, I bet, not many in India had heard of. It was well known, though, in Europe and the Americas. He was ambitious and determined. While many found him interesting, I completely brushed his business model aside saying ‘From where on earth is he going to find people to work on that technology. He’s lost his mind!’ I sincerely believe I wasn’t the only one – there were many who spoke the same language with me, while many of the inhabitants in the area had hardly, ever, heard of this man or his company. Hail my brothers in mission

January 26, 2008

By U. Mahesh Prabhu

This poem is dedicated to all the Swayamsevaks of Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh

O beloved brothers of Sangh,
I hail your spirits, which need to be sung.

Living in chastity free of expectations,
I hail also Guruji, who inspired you all with his noble revelations.

Mission for a noble cause,
To see thy nation supreme and above all.

There exist no words which can express your devotion to the land,
Sacrifice you make are never conceivable to a common man.

Head on you fight the obstacles,
Which you face as if they were never the shackles.

My mother, my land, what can I give you,
For they have given everything they can.

Dubbed as fanatics with no emotions,
By the people who can never understand devotion.

I pity those who have just the imported knowledge of a foreign land,
Who deject all the legacy of my land as if it’s not worthy for a man.

Shame on those who call these men,
As insane and unworthy of the respect that should be due to them.

Who has the wisdom o my brothers? Who has the courage?
The ones like you possess for it takes zeal uncanny to foray.

Foray into the mission, that is so demanding,
So tiring that it seeks a love to the land so enduring.

I hail you my brothers for you are the men of honor,
Men of character and men, who can, in the minds of traitors, implant horror.

Oh my mother, insane, I see in now all my ambition,
Which is so selfish and undeserving when put forth my brothers’ Mission!

I hail you oh my fellow brothers… for your zeal and dedication to the nation and the mission.

21st Century and Brahmacharya

BrahmacharyaBy U. Mahesh Prabhu

Brahmacharya or spotless chastity is the best of all penances; a celibate of such spotless chastity is not a human being, but a god indeed… To the celibate who conserves the semen with great efforts, what is there unattainable in this world? By the power of the composure of the semen, one will become just like me.’ – Sri Adishankarachya

On 30th of December 2007, I happened to meet a very charismatic personality, at RSS Office in Bangalore, who was somewhere in his 80s. His name was Sooryanarayan Rao. He was not just elderly, but was also one of the most respected Swayamsevak of Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). It was one of the finest moments of life having spent conversing with this extraordinary persona.

Of the several important things, I happened to ask him a very important question: ‘How difficult do you think is it to adhere to Brahmacharya in the modern times?’ His answer, rather instantaneously, was ‘Absolutely difficult!’ He further added ‘you see almost all the Medias, with their advertisements, are filled with exoticism because of which you are tempted every moment, owing which it becomes increasingly difficult to be a Brahmachari.Read the rest of this entry »

The ‘American Dream’ is still alive

January 14, 2008

American DreamBy U. Mahesh Prabhu

When I was growing up several of my relatives had been to United States, either for education or work. They were certainly the finest in their chosen areas of profession and/or education. Within few years in United States their financial prosperity was highly visible. They would return with hi-fi gizmos and gadgets. They would speak English with the typical American accent, one that would lure middle class parents and pursue them to ensure that their children achieved the same.

‘See my child… you need to study well and score good marks. Because if you don’t you will not be able to get into Engineering and achieve that success what your uncles/cousins have achieved.’ Was a common statement that which several parent in my place you would have seen saying to me, or people like me. The parent, of the US returned people, would be so proud that they wouldn’t stop bragging about their kid’s achievements. ‘What!!! your son is just 70%? Then what is he going to do about his life? That marks will certainly not land him in US. When my son comes I would get him counseled… Don’t you worry.’ are some of the many statements that have baffled me for so long.
