U Mahesh Prabhu: A Profile

My career as a journalist began as  Editor-in-chief of a political monthly called ASEEMAA: Journal for National Resurgence, where I have had the privilege of bringing in some of the finest journalists from the world-over including USA, UK, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai as regular contributors/columnists.

Some of the major contributors to the magazine during my reign there include: Arun Shourie (Formerly Editor of The Indian Express and Union Minister for Disinvestment under NDA regime), Chandan Mitra (Editor, The Pioneer), MJ Akbar (Formerly Editor of Deccan Chronicle, The Asian Age, Sunday and The Telegraph), Rahul Singh (Formerly Editor of Readers Digest and Khaleej Times), Tarun Vijay (Former Editor of Panchajanya), Caroline Glick (Executive Editor, The Jerusalem Post), David Horovitz (Editor, The Jerusalem Post), Daniel Pipes (Columnist, Washington Post, The Times and The Jerusalem Post), William Darlymple (Writer), Aijaz Zaka Syed (Sr. Editor, Khaleej Times), Sir Adam Clapham (Formerly Producer with BBC), MV Kamath (Formerly Editor of Sunday Times, Free Press Journal and The Illustrated Weekly of India), BG Verghese (Formerly Editor of Hindustan Times and The Indian Express), S Gurumurthy (Eminent Chartered Accountant) and so on. For my editorials in ASEEMAA I was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Asiatic Society, UK, and later Membership of the International Federation of Journalists, USA.

I have also contributed articles and columns to The Times of India, Indian Express, Organiser Weekly, The Verdict, Vijaya Karnataka and Front Page Magazine (US) and so on.

To keep up with my passion for Journalism I also happened to start a completely apolitical online weekly called Folks Magazine (http://www.folks.co.in) which today has readers from over four continents and contributors from five countries. Some of our distinguished contributors include Dr. NS Rajaram, David Frawley, Koenraad Elst, Stephen Knapp, MV Kamath, and several others.

I have also delivered over fifty guest lectures at various prestigious management and journalism schools. Besides, I also work as a PR adviser and consultant with Prabal Media & Marketing Group (http://www.prabal.co.in) which offers Management & PR consultancy to some of the distinguished corporate houses and political parties in the southern India.

I have my Bachelors in Business Administration degree from Bangalore Open University and Masters in Business Administration (Marketing) from Indira Gandhi National Open University.

    MF Husain, who!

Except a few diehards, not many Hindus care about MF. No apologies needed. He can come and live protest free if he were not to paint Hindu deities dirty.

To say that India needs him is absurd!

    Dear Mahesh,
I would like to draw your attention to an article by one RajniBakshi on 9/11. (in Mag Section, 20/9/10). She has referred to 9/11 in the context of Vivekananda and Gandhi. This is total misrepresentation. A strong counter-attack from your sword-like-pen is called for. The position taken by her is not acceptable. Indians should not be misled by these so called peace-nicks/secular tolerance mongers. What is most annoying is she is questioning the radius of ground zero. I hope you will come out with a very strong write up and also ensure it gets published in Hindu, and if not, in other leading papers. Hindu is, quite ofter, one-sided. Looking forward to your article
    Yours Sincerely
